Curving outdoor staircases, trickling fountains, terraces and loggias surprise and delight at every turn. A bell tower rises 50 feet over the Courtyard, the gathering place for guests in this unique village. Guests mingle here by the outdoor fireplace, where the hiking guide, the artist-in-residence, the mind/body specialists and others who love their craft share their expertise. Another feature unique to Spa Ojai is its 3,500 square foot penthouse with four private guest rooms, two living areas and a meditation loft. Accessed by private elevator, the penthouse features its own treatment room, sauna and Sunrise and Sunset terraces with outdoor whirlpools.

Because the natural beauty of the Ojai Valley is so inspiring, guests are encouraged to spend as much time as possible outdoors. Guests will gather fresh herbs in the garden for a wreath making class, join a morning hike, or embark on a meditative walk in the Labyrinth. Golf, tennis, horseback riding, bird watching, spinning, water aerobic classes and biking are also an important part of the experience. T’ai Chi classes are often held on the lawn, while art studio classes move outdoors for plein air painting classes.

The 1,600-square-foot Mind/Body Center includes fully equipped weight room, cardiovascular workout area and a studio for classes in Tai Chi, yoga, traditional aerobics and meditation.

methods of other cultures, the process begins with the self-application of cleansing Moor mud. The Kuyam’s heat gently bakes the soothing mud while a guided meditation relaxes and calms. The room is then filled with herb-infused steam, softening the mud and providing inhalation therapy. The mud is removed in a walk-through Swiss shower, followed by a second shower for the final cleansing. Moisturizing lotion is applied before the guest is wrapped in warm linen to relax on the outdoor loggia to enjoy a calming cup of herbal tea. The first to be offered in the United States, the Kuyam treatment can be shared by up to eight participants.

"Pedals," a signature body treatment

A number of spa treatments use the bounty of Ojai’s farms, orchards and ranches. Pure organic honey from local orange blossoms is used in the Ojai Orange Honey Body Masque and the Ojai Orange Scrub. The Elderberry & Ginger Detoxification Wrap draws its inspiration from the Chumash tradition of using elderberries to hydrate the skin. "Petals," a signature body treatment, uses powder to exfoliate and sensuous rose oil to nourish the skin.

At Acorn, Spa Ojai’s poolside snack bar, the freshest vegetables and local fruits are personally selected by the chefs for each day’s market-fresh selections. Smoothies and blended juices are favorite health food selections.
