In Mexico, it seems like the longer the resort name, the better the resort. That’s why you will absolutely love the Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa at The Islands of Loreto. This stunning 4,447-acre resort is located on the eastern shore of the Baja Peninsula roughly 300 miles north of Cabo San Lucas. The activities and options are endless, and the setting spectacular.

Golfing guests can tee it up at TPC Danzante Bay, a new Rees Jones 18-hole track that opened in late 2016. This par 72 with five sets of tees measures from 4,916 to 7,237 yards, and is accented by coastline, valleys, arroyos, dunes, and foothills. There’s also a spacious practice facility that includes a dedicated short-game area. The par 3, 17th is a dramatic 178-yard signature hole.

After playing the course, you might consider about half of the holes to be signature holes. That’s due in part to the panoramic vistas that include the azure-blue Sea of Cortes and rugged Sierra de la Giganta mountain range. Without doubt, TPC Danzante Bay is clearly one of the world’s most scenic ocean courses.

With its designation of Tournament Players Club (TPC), Danzante Bay joined the TPC Network owned by the PGA Tour. It is the fourth international facility in the TPC collection of championship golf courses.

Lots to explore

Villa del Palmar guests can explore the sprawling white-sand beaches of Danzante Bay adjacent the resort. You can also pick up a trail map at the front desk then hike the trails surrounding the resort for fabulous photo opportunities. Other activities include exploring the namesake of the resort: The Islands of Loreto. Danzante Bay features a natural habitat that includes 900 species of fish, which make this a perfect setting for snorkeling. Whale watching is also a popular activity from December through March. In addition, resort guests can enjoy world-class sport fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking. These activities are available by contacting the concierge or front desk.

In addition to an all-inclusive option, five resort pools and many other amenities are also available at Villa del Palmar, including gourmet restaurants, bars, and a snack bar. Guests can also enjoy 24-hour in-room dining.

The town of Loreto sits about 30 minutes’ drive north of Danzante Bay near Loreto International Airport where most visitors arrive. Spend a day exploring this historic, quaint, and clean little town of 20,000. The shops, restaurants, and malecon (waterfront esplanade) are all enjoyable and welcoming. Don’t miss stepping inside the first Jesuit mission on the California peninsula - Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto Conchó, dating to 1697. There’s an informative museum right next door that chronicles the settlement of Baja California.
