General Manager & Head Professional
King and Prince Golf Course
St. Simons Island, GA...Recently, GoGolfandTravel.com had the opportunity to meet Rick Mattox, general manager and head professional of the King and Prince Golf Course on St. Simons Island. He is truly a gracious gentleman and a blessing to the game of golf.
In 2011, the Georgia Section of the PGA honored Mattox with the Bill Strasbaugh Award. This is the highest honor bestowed on a golf professional in the State for showing outstanding integrity, commitment to mentoring PGA Professionals and who have made a significant impact on the careers of others. In presenting this award to Mattox, the PGA stated that he is one of America’s most respected golfers, leading their club for nearly 23 years.
The PGA Georgia Section also considers the member’s service to the Association and involvement in community and charitable activities. Announced by Michael A. Paull, Executive Director of the PGA Georgia Section, Mattox will be honored at the fifth annual Special Awards Banquet on February 25, 2012 at Turner Field in Atlanta.
In true Rick Mattox fashion, he responded with the following: “I am very humbled and honored to be selected for the Bill Strausbaugh Award by my fellow Professionals in the Georgia Section. I was privileged to have attended a seminar presented by Mr. Strausbaugh in the first PGA Business School that I attended. Integrity, commitment to mentor PGA professionals, service to the Association, involvement in my community and charitable activities are what we all strive for and I appreciate this recognition of my career efforts.”
GoGolfandTravel.com commends the PGA Georgia Section on selecting not only a worthy individual and great golfer, but also a wonderful gentleman. Rick Mattox is a true asset to the game of golf, the King and Prince, St. Simons Island and to the State of Georgia. Congratulations, Rick.
