Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau
Teams Up With Lonely Planet
 |
| A "must have" for the visitors to Southwest Florida's Fort Myers & Sanibel Island |
Ft. Myers, FL – From an innovative marketing partnership with the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) and renowned travel publisher Lonely Planet to the Art of the Olympians Gallery to several special events in upcoming months, The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel in southwest Florida continues to provide new experiences for first time and returning guests to Florida’s pristine island sanctuary.
In a first-of-its-kind marketing alliance, the Visitors and Convention Bureau has entered into a strategic partnership with Lonely Planet to create a customized destination guidebook, a digital/online version of the guide, a mobile application of the guide and other digital solutions that will expand the Bureau’s marketing reach. The new marketing alliance stemmed from an analysis of the Bureau’s marketing needs, consumer travel trends and changing marketplace conditions.
The world’s largest travel publisher, Lonely Planet is also creating and housing a microsite for the destination on its website with translated versions. The company will produce eight two- to three-minute videos hosted by Lonely Planet authors and showcasing various aspects of the destination. The videos will air on Lonely Planet’s website and its YouTube channel as well as on syndication partner outlets. The partnership allows the Bureau to respond more effectively to social media that have created a demand for additional content in more places.
In addition, as part of the new marketing alliance, the destination receives six full-page advertisements in the U.K. edition of Lonely Planet magazine with a distribution of 80,000 in Europe. Visit www.lonelyplanet.com.
